Winner of the “Best of show” award at NAB 2023, TV Pro Gear’s new solar powered video van employs several new technologies to create a vehicle that functions as an ENG Van, a mobile studio for live-shots and a multi-camera video production truck for covering live events.

The vehicle’s solar panels provide enough current to run the van while simultaneously charging the massive lithium-ion batteries enabling the van to run without needing a generator or shore power.

Transmission back and forth to the station is handled by a bonded cellular 4-channel transmitter and receiver. Power hungry satellite uplinks and microwave transmitters are no longer required.

The walls and ceiling are covered with five layers of thermal and acoustic insulation providing an ideal shooting environment… even in extreme temperatures or hi-ambient-noise locations.

The HVAC is supplied by a heat pump that uses less than half the power of a standard air-conditioner or heater. Unlike traditional AC, the heat-pump is so quiet, it can run while shooting inside the van.

When used as a mobile studio,

the talent sits in front of a seventy-inch

monitor. The monitor is fed video or

graphic images from a server.

A teleprompter with a 4K robotic camera

is mounted on an electric lift six feet in

front of the talent.

Also mounted on the electric lift is a return

video monitor enabling the person being

interviewed to see the news anchor back

at the station.
