 A Georgia businessman and television producer for Turner Broadcasting decided to build a television station for the Hispanic market in the Atlanta metro area. He required a master control room and a portable production package and wanted to go on air in 120 days.
TV Pro Gear put together a plan that fulfilled the technical requirements and met the proposed air date and budget restraints. The Georgia TeVe technical operations were designed with Florical Automation software controlling all primary equipment in master control. Georgia TeVe’s CEO, Rafael Ortiz-Guzman, stated; “We wanted a master control room that would be fully automated and digital server based, yet have the flexibility to allow us to play some of the older analog materials. TV Pro Gear put together exactly what we needed, when we needed it, and for a price I could not beat.” Chandos Mahon, project executive from TV Pro Gear, elaborated: “Georgia TeVe had a unique set of issues. They had a rapidly approaching on-air date, a limited budget and they needed a fully automated master control room that could accommodate new and old video formats. Our design kept a digital signal path from the ingest servers through playback to air. Using a Thomson serial digital Venus router for all facility audio/video routing, we were able to move all signals to-and-from the 360 Systems video servers. Content is supplied to the servers by a host of analog and digital VTR’s. Guzman’s willingness to incorporate a number of reconditioned items into the package factored largely toward the success of the project.”
The channel will reach more than 300,000 viewers in the Atlanta area and offer Georgia, with the third-fastest-growing Hispanic population in the country, a fresh infusion of Spanish programming produced to reach the burgeoning Latino community.
Georgia TeVe offers original programs, produced with Atlanta talent, plus several syndicated comedy and game shows, classic Spanish movies, children's programs and the staple of Spanish television: telenovelas, or soap operas.
