HOLLYWOOD, CA - TV Pro Gear recently upgraded Arclight Productions’ workflow to share multiple 4K streams tapelessly between its Final Cut Pro Bays and Graphic Workstations utilizing the extraordinary power of Facilis Terrablock.
Prior to the upgrade, Arclight was forced to sneakernet content between computers. Manually walking files from station to station cost them tremendously with regards to both time and money. TV Pro Gear saw a glaring need for a workflow upgrade, recommending a SAN Storage Solution with a Media Asset Management Tool, but there was a catch.
“The collaborative workflow was actually a simple solution,” said Chandos Mahon, Jr. Senior Vice President of TV Pro Gear, “But the bandwidth Arclight required made it a bit of a challenge.”
That enormous bandwidth came from the multiple 4K streams Arclight needed their SAN solution to handle. Such large files often cause traditional SAN systems to lock up as they are overwhelmed incoming and outgoing volume.
TV Pro Gear chose the Facilis Terrablock 24D 24TB Fiber SAN with Final Cut Server for Media Asset Management to address this problem. Its enormous storage capacity and ability to interact seamlessly with Final Cut provided Arclight with the interoperability they required in a solution powerful enough to handle their 4K files. This Facilis SAN Solution was integrated with Arclight’s existing configuration to provide a seamless workflow with which the Production Company felt completely comfortable.
Arclight quickly applied their new storage solution to their latest museum project that saw the company employing multiple 4K projectors to show a complete 4K film across a curved wall. A complex project simplified by their ability to seamlessly share content within a tapeless workflow.
