Actual Reality, a producer of the documentary series "Flip That House", "30 Days", and the award-winning film "The War Room", needed to set up a temporary editing facility in a rental space.
Their crew needed to get to work right away in the temporary space. They needed a powerful solution that would give them the ability to edit multiple projects concurrently and share data seamlessly. The finished product needed to fit their budget and allow them to meet some fast-approaching deadlines.
TV Pro Gear got to work immediately, outfitting Actual Reality's temporary space with 2 Final Cut Pro Systems in short order, allowing the company to begin work instantly. TV Pro Gear continued to add more stations until an entire compliment of seven full edit suites were completed.
Each of the seven edit suites employed Final Cut Studio 2 software on MacPro Dual-Quad core 3.0Ghz Computers with AJA Kona 3 Cards. This configuration was chosen to support Actual Reality's house format of DVCPro 50. TV Pro Gear finished off the edit bays with a pair of Samsung 24" LCD Monitors for editing and integrated Actual Reality's existing playback monitors.
TV Pro Gear centered the entire edit facility in an Edit Share Collaborative Storage device. The 8 RU unit provides Actual Reality with 12TB of storage and the ability for an easy expansion that will support up to 13 clients working in DVCPRO HD.
TV Pro Gear had Actual Reality's future in mind when they completed this facility, allowing for an easy upgrade to HD when the time came. The technicians also made sure the edit suites were ready for an easy move back to their home facility once they were finished in their temporary space.
